Facade installation is advancing at 3501 N Halsted Street, a five-story mixed-use building in Lakeview East that will serve as a hub for Howard Brown Health, an organization dedicated to providing comprehensive care and support for the LGBTQ community in Chicago. Following the completion of the structural work, the project is now focused on the installation of the glass and masonry exterior designed by Eckenhoff Saunders Architects.

The facility will house 7,600 square feet of retail space on the ground level, clinic space on the first and second floors, and three floors of administrative space above. Once completed, the project will enable Howard Brown Health to double its current patient and visitor capacity in the area.

The glass curtain wall, combined with different shades of brickwork, is rapidly taking shape on the exterior. Vertical bays and a top floor setback, designed to provide more space for amenities like terraces, are also being installed.

The project caters to those who use public transit, with limited parking available on site. Route 8 offers bus service directly next to the project location, while the closest CTA Red Line access is a seven-minute walk away at Addison station.

McHugh Construction is serving as general contractor for the project, which is expected to complete this year.

Sad that Lincoln Park and Lakeview, two of our most vibrant neighborhoods, can’t command better architecture than this. A handful of others like it have popped up or are proposed in the area (near the Wellington stop, replacing the Fifth Third bank, etc.) and it seems like the area deserves better.
