New construction permits have been issued for a three-story residential building located at 6135 S Kimbark Avenue in the Woodlawn neighborhood. The parcel is addressed as 6131 S Kimbark Avenue. The permit lists McInerney Builders as the owner of the record. Plans indicate nine total units and a detached five-car garage in the rear. Before this development, the property was occupied by a frame residence.
Christopher Boehm of 360 Design Studio is the architect of record. While no drawings or renderings have been revealed, the filing explicitly states a frame construction.
The property site is a block south of the University of Chicago’s campus. There are many transportation options, including Route 59 at the 61st Street & Woodlawn stop to the north of the site and Route 63 at the 63rd Street & Kimbark stop to the south. Both can be boarded within a quick 4-minute walk.
McInerney Builders is also serving as general contractor for the approximately $1,375,000 construction. No set timeline has yet been announced.
