Permits have been issued for constructing a new five-story residential building located at 224 S Ashland Avenue in the Near West Side neighborhood. The permit lists both Roma Fund Investments and Viktor Jakovljevic Revocable Trust as owners. Axios Architects are serving as the architects of record for the project which will involve a ground-floor garage with 56 parking spaces, and 56 dwelling units spread across the remaining four floors. The development will neighbor the existing Circle Park Apartments which is just north of the planned build.
The site is very accessible via transit with the Ashland & Roosevelt stop directly across the street where Routes 9 and X9 can be boarded. Beyond the bus stop lies the Medical District. Those seeking to board the CTA L can find the Pink Line at the Polk station via a 10-minute walk north. There are many retail and dining options that service the nearby campuses that are easily found within a five-minute walk in any direction of the future development.
Vivify Construction will act as the general contractor for the build which the permit reports as having a cost of $8.4 million. As updated renderings and details become available we will report back. No timeline for construction, nor a timeline for the removal of the existing property has been disclosed at the time of this reporting.

Hi, I am confused about the location. The site shown (in street view and on the map) is at the corner of Ashland and Roosevelt. I see Google maps have it labeled as 224 S Ashland, but shouldn’t 224 S be between Adams and Jackson?
Go west young real estate investors!
The way they show the map address should be around 1151-1159 south Ashland, not 224 south…typo on YIMBYs end
Agreed. However, when you type this address into Google Maps, that’s the location and image it renders.
I think the address is correct, but Google is wrong (imagine that, Google being wrong!).
The real 224 S Ashland is/was a two-story office building with parking in the rear, on the west side of Ashland mid block between Adams and Jackson. The real 224 S Ashland is a lot of approx 20,000sf, which would accommodate the type of building described in the post. The fake 224 S Ashland (NE cor Ashland/Roos) would neither physically accommodate a building of the size described, nor permit it without a zoning change at that site.
You rely way too much on Google. They tag it wrong. You even have the aide od rhe street wrong in your map. Even numbers are on the west of a street, not east. The actual location is the 2 story building right south of the Mexican Consulate.
