Facade work is progressing rapidly for a five-story mixed-use building known as The Porter, located at 2411 N Lincoln Avenue in Lincoln Park. The scheme by Mike Breheny involves 3,700 square feet of retail, a 1,700-square-foot covered patio, and 36 for-rent apartments above. Previously, the privately-owned Julia Porter Park was in its place.
The apartments will average larger in size, comprised of 25 percent two-bedrooms, 60 percent three-bedrooms, and 15 percent four-bedrooms. In addition, there will be a covered rooftop amenity deck as well as 36 on-site parking spaces.
The triangular design for the building was created by Studio Dwell, having the effect of resembling a boat due to its triangular footprint, inset balconies, and hull-like massing. The prominent pointed corner of the building will be open-air to allow for additional private balcony spaces. The facade materials include a mixed-pattern red brick cladding.
The closest public transit to the property is a bus stop for Route 74, located within a two-minute walking radius. Meanwhile, all three of the Red, Brown, and Purple Lines are available at Fullerton station in under a five-minute walk west of the property.
Contemporary Concepts is now serving as the general contractor. The project is expected to open next year.

Crazy to think there was a nice park here! Wish the architecture of this building matched the old buildings of LP and included turrets all along the facade but especially on the corner itself. C’est la vie!
I also wish this spot got something way more interesting, but let’s be real, that old park sucked and was very poorly designed, too exposed, and not ensconced enough. Plus the public art there was ugly AF.
I liked the trees there. I’ve seen worse parks around the city. But I agree with you about the art. -10/10
At least it’s not precast concrete with pop colors around the windows.
Is it for the homeless
