Permits were issued last week for the demolition of a two-story commercial building located at 210 W Chestnut Street in Near North Side neighborhood. The permit’s owner has been listed as 920 N Wells Street LLC. The demolition permit indicates the building demolished has a masonry exterior and the scope of removal includes the slab foundation. The structure will give way to 868 N Wells Street, a 25-story tower serving as the next phase of JDL’s North Union megadevelopment.

  1. Unfortunate the developer didn’t incorporate this small vintage building into the new construction.

    • This is by no means anything special. There are other vintage buildings within the master development being saved and reused.

  2. Normally I am all about adaptive reuse but the faux gothic front of the building that faces Wells St. needs to GO. The new building is crisp and fresh. Lets do it!
