A renovation permit was issued yesterday for interior alterations to Illinois Masonic Hospital Advance Care, which is located at 900 W Nelson Street in Lake View East. The renovations on this permit are meant to alter the existing hospital as well as enable future expansion on the site. There will be minor demolitions of select walls, ceilings, piping, as well as structural components and ductwork. These are some of the initial steps being taken in a multi-year project to convert the hospital campus.
The multi-phase plan is being developed by the hospital in partnership with SmithGroup. The building’s design was submitted for approval from the Illinois Health Facilities and Services review board earlier this year. The development has a total cost of $645 million and will be reviewed by the board this June. Should the project be approved, construction could begin as early as this year with an estimated completion of 2030.
Turner Construction Company will act as the general contractor for the $4.76 million construction. We will continue to report as more details emerge on the build phases.
