New Permits Issued for 1635 S California Boulevard in Pilsen

A new permit was issued late last week for a new three-story residential building located at 1635 S California Avenue in the Pilsen. The permit has been listed under the 1635 S California Boulevard, and the owners are indicated as Pilsen Rentals, LLC. Per plans, the construction will be comprised of three total dwelling units with a basement. Each unit will be outfitted with a metal porch at the rear. Plans also indicate the presence of a three-vehicle parking pad. The property lot is currently vacant.

Andrew Wang is listed as the architect of record. Though a masonry build is anticipated, no drawings or renderings have been disclosed.

The closest bus service to this property is Route 94 which can be found at the intersection of California & 16th Street via a six-minute walk east. The nearest CTA service is a five-minute walk south to the California station where the Pink Line can be accessed. Douglas Park is directly across the street from the future property site.

All Tech Builders & Restoration will also serve as the general contractor for the $600,000 construction. A detailed timeline or an anticipated completion date have not yet been revealed.

    Not sure how well the author knows the city, but this address is definitely not Pilsen. Great to see new construction around Douglass Park.

  2. I’ve been living here for all my life, 50yrs I never new I lived in pilsen. Till now
