With much of the foundation work complete and the tower crane now in place, initial construction is making progress for a five-story mixed-use building at 3501 N Halsted Street in Lake View East.
The development will be a new venue for the Howard Brown Health clinic, which provides a holistic approach to LGBTQ wellness at various locations throughout Chicago. This latest addition will double its capacity in the area, housing two floors of clinic space and three floors of administrative space above. The first floor will also accommodate 7,600 square feet of retail.
Designed by Eckenhoff Saunders Architects, the multifaceted exterior will feature a glass curtain wall mixed with various shades of brickwork. These materials will be further broken up by a series of vertical bats, as well as a top floor setback to allow for added amenity terrace space.
The project is heavily transit-oriented, with just 27 on-site parking spots. Bus service for Route 8 is located adjacent to the property at Halsted & Cornelia, while the CTA L offers closest Red Line service at Addison station via a seven-minute walk northwest.
McHugh Construction is serving as the general contractor, with a full delivery of the project expected for 2023.

This looks really good. I can’t believe the most contemporary architecture going up in these super-rich north Neighborhoods are all medical-related (Lurie, Presence etc). Why can’t the residential projects along Clark be these mixed-use?
So glad they redesigned this, the original was horrendous. I’m very much looking forward to this addition to the neighborhood.
Agreed! It shows how pressure from the community can really make an important difference which will have a lasting impact.
I really like this. Really great street presence for pedestrians, very low car accommodation. Great looking low rise architecture.
