The hotel will be the third phase in a broader masterplan known as Gateway, occupying the trapezoidal block bound by Harrison, Damen, Ogden, and Hoyne. The “Seeley” street name is due to a new internal passageway that will be created as the masterplan is built out. The scheme also involves two single-story retail buildings and a currently underway apartment building known as Gateway Apartments.

  1. This is embarrassing all the way around. All parties involved should be ashamed to allow such suburban rubbish to occupy our land. Where is the Committee on Design here? Where is Maurice Cox? Chicago will never learn from past mistakes. This is as bad as the Holiday Inn on Canal/Harrison that will be an eyesore for generations. It’s amazing how mid & high-rise buildings are constantly rejected for “Not respecting the character of the neighborhood’ yet strip-malls, fast-food joints, department stores, hotels or auto shops with surface parking always magically fits within the context of their surroundings. This is a long way from the “IMD Gateway” plan announced originally.
