Final paint work has begun for Bickerdike Redevelopment Corporation‘s Emmett Street Apartments in Logan Square. Located at 2614 N Emmett Street, the seven-story mixed-use building is set to house 4,300 square feet of ground-floor retail, 100 affordable units, and office space for building management. Prior to development, the 0.9-acre property was occupied by a surface-level parking lot.

Envisioned by Landon Bone Baker Architects, the structure’s design takes on a distinctive massing style with a contemporary facade. The footprint of the tower zig-zags slightly while its exterior walls increase in height as it approaches the front entry area. The stepped setbacks of the massing will accommodate green roof space, while the street-level area will include extensive landscaping. For the facade, the architects adopted a gray-scale palette with intermittent flourishes of orange, yellow, and blue.

  1. Personally I liked the way it looked pre-painting, but I always lost that argument when I was at LBBA. Great addition to the square!
