Only final touches remain for Elm 551 at Parkside, a three-building apartment complex at 551 W Elm Street in Near North Side. With Holsten Real Estate Development Corporation as the developer, the project is the latest milestone in a broader mixed-income masterplan known as Parkside of Old Town.
At 102 total residences, Elm 551 at Parkside houses 33 walk-up units within two three-story buildings known as the “flats.” These residences range between one- and three-bedroom units. The third seven-story building accommodates the other 69 apartments varying from studios up to three-bedroom units. All dwellings feature white pane cabinets, quartz countertops, and stainless-steel energy efficient appliances. The flats, meanwhile, come with in-unit laundry.
Various amenities housed in the mid-rise portion comprise of a fitness center, an office space, and common areas. The mid-rise also contains a common laundry facility for residents.
Landon Bone Baker is the project architect. The contemporary design integrates pre-cast concrete panels with colored accents throughout. Both the flats and mid-rise involve angled roof lines that add to the dynamic aesthetic.
Most recent listings of the development have indicated 71 surface-level parking spaces. Other available transportation consists of Route 70 available via a two-minute walk north to Division & Larrabee. Also nearby are stops for Route 8, within a seven-minute walk northwest to Halsted & Division and along N Orleans Street to the east are additional stops for Route 37.
As far as CTA L service, residents can find closest Brown and Purple Line trains either at Sedgwick station via a 16-minute walk northeast or Chicago station via a 16-minute walk southeast. Slightly further via a 21-minute walk southwest is the Blue Line, with service at the other Chicago station.
Linn-Mathes has served as the general contractor for the construction, with move-ins imminent as the remaining work wraps up.
