Permits have been issued for a three-story apartment building at 919 S Aberdeen Street in Little Italy. MBZ Properties LLC is the filing owner, whose plans include two total units, as well as parking for two cars on an exterior parking slab. Currently, the site is occupied by a two-story detached frame residence with a smaller two-story frame enclosure in the rear.
Ronald Vari of Vari Architects is the architect of record. No drawings or renderings have yet been published, and it is unclear if the design will be frame or masonry.
Various bus transit can be found within the vicinity, including east and westbound stops for Route 157 via a minute walk south to Taylor & Aberdeen. Additional buses within a 10-minute walking radius consist of Route 60 to the west, Route 12 to the south, Route 8 to the east, and Route 7 to both the northwest and northeast.
Those looking to board the CTA L will find service for the Blue Line available at the UIC-Halsted station, a 10-minute walk northeast. The Pink Line is also available via a 19-minute walk west to Polk station.
Residents will find a mix of outdoor spaces nearby, including the adjacent Sheridan Park, as well as Arrigo Park and Vernon park both to the northwest.
WMBE Chicago LLC is the general contractor for the reportedly $210,000 construction. A similar permit with the same listed parties was issued last month for the adjacent 917 S Aberdeen Street. It is unclear what the anticipated time frame is for either of these projects.
