Construction permits have been issued for a three-story residential building located at 5030 S Prairie Avenue in Bronzeville. Owned by KPG Chicago LLC, the development is set to include three total units, alongside a rear steel open porch and stairs, as well as a three-car concrete parking pad. The new structure will replace a currently vacant lot.
Charles Schwartz is the architect of record. No drawings or renderings have yet been revealed, though multiple masonry contractors may indicate a brick exterior.
Future residents will find various transit options in close proximity, including various east and westbound bus stops for Route 15 less than a half-block south along E 51st Street. Additional access for Route 3 can be found a five-minute walk northeast to King Drive & 50th Street, while Route 29 is located an eight-minute walk southwest to State & 51st Street. CTA L Green Line service is also close by, with the nearest 51st station less than a two-minute walk southeast. Those wishing to board the Red Line will also find 47th Station via a 22-minute walk northwest.
The vast 366-acre Washington (George) Park is available within a five-minute walk southeast, with various venues such as multiple baseball/softball fields, a fieldhouse, a pool, a lagoon with trails, and a sculpture garden.
Metropole Holdings LLC is the general contractor for the $350,000 construction. A completion timeline is not currently known.
