Exterior Work Wraps Up at 448 N LaSalle Drive in River North

Final work on the base and roof is wrapping up for River North‘s 13-story 448 N LaSalle Drive, a planned mixed-use development by Midwest Property Group.

The roughly 175,000-square-foot building will primarily contain large office floor plates, with additional planned retail at ground level and amenity spaces like a tenant lounge and fitness center. The most notable of these spaces is the penthouse enclosure and roof deck, located on the 13th floor.

Lamar Johnson Collaborative is behind the design, which features an opulent glass curtain wall divided by matte black floor slip coverings. The core of the building has also been shifted to the southeast corner of the building and is also enclosed in a matte black finish. Lastly, the structure’s main massing overhangs slightly above its eastern entrance, creating a dramatic hovering appearance.

Tenants will be able to find several CTA bus options within the vicinity, the closest of which is the adjacent LaSalle & Illinois, with north and southbound stops for Route 156. Just to the west are the Illinois & LaSalle bus stops for the east and westbound Route 65. Meanwhile, southbound access for Routes 37 and 125 can be found via a two-minute walk southwest to Wells & Hubbard. The nearest northbound stop for Routes 37 and 125 is a five-minute walk southeast to Orleans & Hubbard. Lastly, the closest southbound stops for Route 22 can be found via a four-minute walk to the southeast to Clark & Kinzie, while its northbound counterpart is one block further east at Dearborn & Hubbard, which also serviced by the Route 36 bus.

Nearby CTA L access to the Brown and Purple Lines includes a three-minute walk southwest to Merchandise Mart station. The Red Line can also be found a six-minute walk northeast to Grand station.

Lendlease is serving as general contractor for the project, which is expected to open next year.
