Construction Commences on 2401 S State Street in the Near South Side

Construction has begun on a four-story residential development at 2401 S State Street in the Near South Side. The project is located at the southeastern corner of S State Street and E 24th Street. The nearest public transportation is the 29 CTA bus accessed at the State and 24th Street stop at the corner of the site. The Cermak-McCormick Place CTA L station, serviced by the Green Line, is a six-minute walk away. Real estate developer City Pads is in charge of the development.

Construction on the core and foundations have begun for the new residential development. Located towards the eastern side of the lot, a concrete block wall and core for the building has risen one story high, with the remaining three stories to go. Foundations for the outer walls along the street have formwork ready, with concrete pours underway. Photos show a concrete truck finishing up a pour for the foundation.

Designed by BuiltForm Collective, the development will be an entirely residential building, comprising 19 units across the four floors. Tenants will have access to ten vehicle parking spaces in addition to 33 bicycle parking spaces.

ANKA Builders and Construction LLC is in charge of the construction for the project. An official timeline for the construction has not been announced.
