Interra Realty is planning retail space on the first and second floors, then an unspecified number of apartments across the four floors above, according to a construction permit issued last month. The permit also listed an amenity roof deck for the residential tenants.
Karl A. Gustafson of HKS Architects is listed as the architect of record. Gustafson’s design surfaced depicting a mixed-material facade, with a clean metal and glass envelope on the retail base. Brick and warehouse-style windows cover the upper residential floors. The drawing also shows decks inset within the corners of each residential floor.
The property lies along the major commercial corridor of Randolph Street, at the intersection with N May Street. Bus transit in the area includes a five-minute walk south to Route 20’s Madison & Aberdeen stop. CTA L access includes a six-minute walk northeast to the Morgan station, serviced by the Green and Pink Lines.
Photos currently show gravel, corrugated metal, and wooden slots in the foundation, signaling that the structure will likely go vertical soon. Apex Construction Group is listed as the general contractor for the $4 million project. No completion date has yet been listed.
