Permits were recently filed for a five-story mixed-use building at 15 N Elizabeth Street in the West Loop area.

While its immediate surroundings are residential, the property is in the vicinity of a dense collection of restaurants and bars, particularly along Randolph Street, a three-minute walk north. Nearby bus transit includes Route 20, a two-minute walk southwest to Madison & Throop. CTA L access includes an 11-minute walk northwest to Ashland Station and a 12-minute walk northeast to Morgan Station, both serviced by the Green and Pink Lines.
The owner and developer, 15 N Elizabeth LLC, plans commercial space and parking for six vehicles on the ground floor, then six condominium units spread across the four floors above. The general contractor is listed as 1847 Humboldt LLC, and the architect of record is John R McCarthy of Chicago-based firm Osterhaus McCarthy LLC.

The facade in McCarthy’s design includes a mix of variably-spaced corrugated metal panels and black-framed windows. Each residential floor features long deck spaces that fit between the units and a supporting northern exterior wall. These decks also cantilever slightly over the sidewalk up and down the western face of the structure. Lastly, the renderings envision extensive use of flora both on the decks and the roof, which appears to include a roof deck.
No completion date for the $500,000 project has been announced.
