Renovation of Uptown’s Bridgeview Bank Building Claims 28th Spot in Year-End Countdown

Coming in at 28th is the first renovation project in Chicago YIMBY’s year-end construction countdown, the 13-story former Bridgeview Bank Building, located at 4753 N Broadway in Uptown. Originally known as the Sheridan Bank and Trust Building, the classically-styled edifice was designed nearly 100 years ago by the Chicago-based Marshall and Fox. Four years after its initial completion in 1924, another four floors (and a mechanical penthouse) were added, bringing the final height to 151 feet.

Adaptive Reuse Underway at Bridgeview Bank Building in Uptown

Both interior and exterior work is currently underway for the adaptive reuse of the 13-story Bridgeview Bank Building, located at 4753 N Broadway Avenue in Uptown. Previously known as the Sheridan Bank and Trust Building, the classically-styled structure was initially built at eight stories in 1925 before four additional floors were constructed in 1928. In 2007, the structure received landmark designation, before it was bought by Cedar St. Companies for $19 million in 2019.

Permit Review Committee Approves Adaptive Reuse Development at 4753 N Broadway in Uptown

The Permit Review Committee, a subcommittee of the Commission on Chicago Landmarks, has approved the adaptive reuse development at 4753 N Broadway in Uptown. Located on the southeastern corner of N Broadway and W Lawrence Avenue, the existing building is the former Sheridan Bank and Trust Building, now named the Bridgeview Bank Building. The Lawrence CTA L station, serviced by the Red Line, is within a two-minute walk. The 36 and 81 CTA bus routes can be accessed at the Broadway and Lawrence stop, directly adjacent to the site.
