A new construction permit has been issued to allow for the completion of a four-story masonry building with five dwelling units at 1118 North California Avenue in Humboldt Park. The entity of 1118 N California LLC, assigned in the permit to an Albany, NY address, applied for permission to build on April 24 of this year, and they received the city’s blessing on July 16. The permit includes a reported cost of $500,000.

Details for the Pavlovcik Architecture-designed building include a rear deck and a rooftop deck, six-foot wood and metal fences, and a three-space parking pad. VAM Development LLC is the general contractor. Units are likely to be offered as rental apartments, but that has not yet been specified.

Residents of 1118 North California Avenue will live less than a block away from east-west and north-south CTA bus service. Route 94 buses stop at the south end of the block, while at the north end, #94 and #70 buses stop on the intersection of California and Division, which marks the southeast corner of the actual Humboldt Park.
