Northwestern University and Power Construction have erected a tower crane to construct a new building along the Lake Michigan waterfront in Evanston. The seven-story, 242,000-square-foot Kellogg Education Center is now under construction, with foundation work currently in progress.

The education center replaces the former James L Allen Center, built in 1979 and demolished this winter. Taylor Excavating & Construction handles the tear down, and they remain on site for ongoing excavation work.

The Kellogg Education Center is located to the immediate southwest of the Kellogg Global Hub, to which it will be connected by an underground tunnel, creating a mini-Kellogg campus on the Northwestern site. The new building will include dining halls, guest rooms, production studios, and several thousand square feet of classroom and study space. Kohn Pedersen Fox Architecture is responsible for the new design.
