The foundation has been poured for a new addition next to the residential building at 3839 North Clark Street in Wrigleyville. A demolition permit was issued for a multi-unit structure next door at 3837 North Clark back in January. Demolition hadn’t begun as of a February 6 visit to the site, but another trip there on March 25 showed the home gone, and most of the new foundation excavated.

The building at 3839 contains nine dwelling units within its five floors. The addition on its south end will add six more units across four stories, with a basement level below. Mangan Builders is the developer and general contractor, as they were for the first phase of construction. Michael Cox & Associates is the architect of record. The new permit, issued October 18th of last year, shows a reported construction cost of $1.2 million. The demolition permit added another $30,000 to the cost of the project.

The current building contains rental units, so it is presumed the addition will be rental apartments as well. But that information has not been confirmed.
