Permits have been issued for a two-story residential building located at 3213 S Union Avenue in the Bridgeport neighborhood. The owner Zhuo Hua Xie Kuo has planned for two total units, as well as a basement underneath. Three on-grade parking spaces will be provided on a planned slab in the rear. The project will be replacing a 1.5-story masonry residential building with a detached garage.

Steven Smutny of Dearborn Sourcing LLC is the architect of record. While no drawings or renderings have yet been revealed, dual masonry contractors listed in the filing suggest a brick or stone exterior.
Residents will find nearest bus transportation at Route 8’s Halsted & 32nd Street, located a three-minute walk northwest. Stops for Route 44 are accessible via a three-minute walk northeast to Wallace & 32nd Street. Access to Route 31 is also available at 31st Street & Union, located a three-minute walk north. Lastly, service for Route 35 can be found via a seven-minute walk south to 35th Street & Union.
Those wishing to board the Red Line for the CTA L can find the Sox-35th station a 15-minute walk southeast. The Orange Line, meanwhile, is located at Halsted station via a 22-minute walk northwest.
Multiple outdoor spaces lie within the area, including but not limited to Humbert (James) Park and the larger Armour (Philip) Square park.
Kuo Construction Inc. is the general contractor behind the $200,000 project. A full completion timeline is not currently known.
