A permit was issued by the City of Chicago on March 19 to allow for the construction of a residential building at 1107 West Vernon Park Place in Little Italy. After waiting just a month following their application date of February 18, developer and general contractor GlobalGC Inc can get started on the four-story structure with basement that will contain three dwelling units, likely to be a pair of duplex condos and one simplex condominium.

Details of the Hanna Architects-designed project include rear stairs and porches on all four above-ground levels, with a roof deck, pergola, and stair enclosure atop the fourth story. Slab parking currently at the site will be replaced by a detached three-car garage at the rear of the lot. It will also have a rooftop deck. The permit shows a reported construction cost of $1.338 million.
A demolition permit will need to be issued for the existing property. Real estate records indicate the two-story home was built in 1888, and was purchased by the developer in November 2024 for $408,000.

Residents of 1107 West Vernon park will live within a quarter-mile of the Racine Blue Line train platform; the station renovation should be complete by the time the residences are finished. Route 60 Blue Island-26th buses make stops two blocks west on Racine Avenue, and the Route 7 bus runs two blocks north along Harrison Street.
