With Demo Fencing Surrounding Wrigleyville Property, Demolition Permit Issued…For The Wrong Address?

Could be just a quirky coincidence, but a demolition permit was issued by the City of Chicago on February 13 for the residential property at 3729 North Clifton Avenue in Wrigleyville. The owner is listed in the permit as 3739 N Clifton LLC, which is an entity for United Chicago Builders. Those house numbers, of course, are not for the same house.

Four doors up the street, at 3739 North Clifton, demolition fencing has surrounded a frame residence built right around 1900. Real estate records show that the home was sold in October of last year to 3739 N CLifton LLC for $950,000. Meanwhile, 3729 North Clifton has no recent sales. So let’s hope this likely typo gets straightened out before anyone tears down the wrong home. Carlos Group, named in the demo permit to handle the teardown, will probably notice which home has fencing around it.

A pending permit in the Chicago Data Portal for new construction at 3739 North Clifton calls for a three-story, three-unit building designed by Red Architects. There will be a detached three-car garage located off the alley next to the Chicago Cubs VIP parking lot (the property is half a block north of Wrigley Field) topped by a roof deck, while the main structure will have a rear steel stairway and porches. United Chicago Builders is acting as their own general contractor. We don’t know yet if these will be for-sale homes or rentals.

😊 I have sent my crew to the wrong address before. The owner loved the free work, which I had to replace.😊
