Concrete is poured and set for the basement of a two-story home at 1821 North Lawndale Avenue in Logan Square. MK Construction & Builders is putting up two units here that were permitted for construction back in July of 2024.
Pro-Plan Architects is the architect of record, according to the construction permit. Few architectural details are mentioned; just a porch at the rear of the residences. A garage torn down with demolition of the previous residence will not be replaced; instead, three parking spaces will be added on a concrete slab at the back of the property, accessed from the alley. The demolition permit for both structures was issued June 27, 2024, with MK also performing that task.
Property records show the previous two-and-a-half story residence on the property was built in 1910, and last sold to an LLC in June 2022 for $390,000. The lot sits just a block away from the western trailhead of the 606 Trail.
Residents of 1821 North Lawndale will have access to CTA buses via Route 73, which is a two-block walk north at Armitage Avenue, and Route 72, which stops three blocks south at North Avenue. For north-south travel, the Route 82 bus makes stops five blocks east at Kimball Avenue.
