Construction has begun for the 52-unit 3605 North Ravenswood residential development in North Center. Located on the northeast corner of the intersection connecting Addison Street, Ravenswood Avenue, and Lincoln Avenue, the six-story building is being developed by Macon Construction (also the general contractor) and Stocking Urban. Designs by Hirsch MPG call for the sixth floor to serve as an amenity deck, with the ground floor holding two commercial spaces. There will be 12 off-street parking spaces on the alley off Ravenswood.

The City of Chicago issued the full building permit for the property on July 8 of this year. Three buildings were demolished back in 2022 to create the lot here: 1744 and 1745 West Addison, and 3609 North Ravenswood, with Precision Excavation handling the demos. Precision is still on site assisting with excavation work.

Upon its completion, residents of 3605 North Ravenswood will be one block east of the Addison Brown Line platform. Even closer is a stop for CTA bus service on Route 152, right across the street. For north-south bus service, Routes 50 and 9 buses are available within a four-block walk to the west and east, respectively. Lincoln Avenue, one of Chicago’s main diagonal arteries, offers one of Chicago’s most accessible bicycle routes.

  1. If you go by the artist rendering that is some awfully uninspired architecture.

  2. @curtis it’s a school of architecture called maximize profit and forget about the rest.

    • Or, it’s a school of architecture that takes account of the high cost of construction labor. Our modern buildings are dull because it’s very expensive to build beautiful buildings today. Just duplicating a terra cotta trimmed apartment building from the ’20s with its nice wood trim and such would be prohibitive. But it was once ordinary. The world has changed hugely.
