Construction progress is ongoing for Sarah’s On Lakeside, the third housing development by Sarah’s Circle. The Chicago-based non-profit provides homes for women who are experiencing homelessness. This new endeavor will mean they have provided more than 100 units for those at risk of having no roofs over their heads.
Sarah’s On Lakeside will deliver 28 fully furnished studio apartments to the Uptown neighborhood. Located at 4737 N Sheridan Road, on the northeast corner with Lakeside Place, the development will also include a demo kitchen, administrative offices, plus grogram and communal spaces.
Perkins&Will is the architect for the project, and Power & Sons Construction is on the build. Ground was broken in June of 2023; the projected opening is this fall.
Residents of Sarah’s On Lakeside will be within one block of stops for the Routes 81 and 151 buses, while the 136, 146, and 148 buses stop at Lawrence and Marine Drive about half a mile to the east. Upon completion of station renovation, the Lawrence Red Line is a three-block walk to the west.

as before, great cause, mediocre and uninspiring architecture: this building does not exactly say: “welcome HOME, you’re safe here”.
I agree with you 100%. There is nothing warm or inviting about this building but rather it is stark and cold. Great cause, not so great architecture.
I mean, it’s ok? There is nothing to write home about – although it does feel more like a medical office building than a residential one.
