220 North Ada received a full building permit on June 12, allowing general contractor Clayco to take the new apartment tower to its full 29-story height. Working in tandem with concrete contractor Adjustable Concrete Construction, the core is rising on site now, while a parking ramp is taking shape. As of Friday, crews have reached the underside of the second floor across most of the half-block-long site.
220 North Ada is a joint venture featuring developers Shapack Partners, CRG, and KMW Communities. Ground was broken back in March for the SOM-designed rental tower, located at the intersection of N Ada and W Fulton Market in the Fulton Market District.
Upon completion, 220 North Ada will deliver 308 rental units, with 62 of those set aside as affordable. There will be 12,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space, parking stalls for 115 cars, and racks for storing 58 bicycles. First move-ins are anticipated for the first quarter of 2026.
Residents of 220 North Ada will have a three-block walk to the CTA’s Ashland station, where they can access Green and Pink Line trains. Routes 9 and 9 Express buses also stop at that location (Lake and Ashland.) For east-west travel, the 20 bus to the south and 65 bus to the north are each within a four-block walk.
