The 28-story hotel at 150 E Ontario Street has risen to approximately the two-thirds mark in the Streeterville neighborhood. The development, led by The Prime Group, will be a new addition to the RIU Hotels and Resorts chain. The 345-foot-tall structure will have 388 guest rooms, with a large lobby area and a connected cafe at the southeast corner of the ground floor.

Lucien LaGrange Studio, the architecture firm behind the project, has designed a white masonry facade exterior. Additional architectural elements include terraced setbacks, a dual-tower crown with noticeable cornices, and regular columns throughout the building.

Less than a block from Michigan Avenue, the property provides access to multiple public transportation options. Bus services for Routes 2, 3, and 10 are located within one block, while the CTA Red Line is available via an eight-minute walk southwest to Grand station.

Currently, the construction has reached past the halfway point, with W.E. O’Neil Construction Company serving as the general contractor. Work is expected to conclude by the first quarter of 2024.

This one looks better in person, I think we’re going to be pleasantly surprised. The building feels taller and really adds to the ‘canyon’ effect on Ontario. I’m just grateful the empty lot is gone!
Between Saint Grand and RIU, there’s some valuable density being added to this area of Streeterville.
