Work on Fulton Market‘s 225 N Elizabeth Street is now nearing its pinnacle, as both structural and facade work continues to advance for the 28-story mixed-use Fulton Market project. Taking shape on what was formerly a parking lot at the intersection of Fulton and Elizabeth Streets, this project is a collaborative effort between Sterling Bay and Ascentris.
With a total of 350 residential units, including 70 designated as affordable, the building is designed to cater to a varied resident demographic. Beyond the residential space, it includes 10,000 square feet of ground-floor retail area.
225 N Elizabeth Street will offer numerous amenities, including a pool, deck, fitness center, and rooftop terrace. Parking provisions include 95 vehicle spaces and 199 bicycle spots.
The building’s design is the work of Hartshorne Plunkard Architecture and features a glass facade with interlocking dark metal panels. The tower, which reaches 314 feet, stands on a large podium occupying a significant part of the site. The podium’s industrial design is intended to complement the painted dark brick exterior on the adjacent two-story art gallery.
The development’s location provides convenient access to several forms of public transportation. Numerous bus routes, including Routes 8, 20, 56, and 65, are available near the site. Morgan Station, serving the Green and Pink Lines, is a 10-minute walk east.
McHugh Construction is overseeing the construction as general contractor, with a reported budget of $110 million. Completion is expected in the third quarter of 2024.
