Construction is close to topping out for a 33-story apartment tower at 354 N Union Avenue in the Fulton River District. Developer Onni Group has planned for 373 total residential units, ranging in size from a 400-square-foot studio to a 1,600-square-foot penthouse. The formerly empty lot occupies a trapezoidal parcel bound by Union Avenue to the east, the railway to the south, the elevated Halsted Street to the west, and the neighboring K2 apartment tower to the north.
Designed by Pappageorge Haymes, the 410-foot-tall massing features an array of angles and setbacks that culminate in a pointed parapet at its pinnacle. Ash shown in the updated renderings, the exterior will comprise of a glass window wall system. Embedded in this facade will be columns of recessed balconies with metal and glass railings.
While there will be 145 on-site parking spaces and storage for 116 bikes, other transit options also come with stops for Route 56 via a three-minute walk east to Des Plaines & Kinzie/Milwaukee. Bus service for Route 8 is also within a three-minute walk, located just to the south at Halsted & Fulton. Also close by is CTA L Blue Line via a five-minute walk northwest to Grand Station, along with the Green and Pink Lines via a seven-minute walk southeast to Morgan station.
Onni Contracting, a subset of its parent company Onni, is serving as the general contractor.
