A permit was approved yesterday for a new two-story residential building to be located at 6368 S Ellis Avenue in the Woodlawn neighborhood. The owner is listed under the name Joe Conroy and plans will comprise a two-unit row house and an accompanying four-car garage at the rear. The building will be replacing part of the Ellis Avenue Garden.
Michael S Cox is listed as the architect of record. No drawings or renderings have yet been revealed, though the filing description has indicated a masonry exterior with an open rear steel staircase.
The closest bus service available is for Route 63 and can be found at 63rd Street & Ellis via a three-minute walk north. The CTA L Green Line at the Cottage Grove station is a nine-minute walk northwest.
There are retail and dining options in the vicinity, located within a five-minute walk east along the 63rd Street corridor. Also nearby is the lush green space Harris (Harriet) Park.
Roscommon Construction Services will serve as the general contractor for the $500,000 construction. Full timeline details and anticipated completion date have not yet been revealed.
