Plans have been revealed for a new medical office center at 5333 South Harlem Avenue in Garfield Ridge. Sitting mid-block between West 53rd Street and West 54th Street, the project is set to replace a long-term vacant lot and is being planned by Chicago-based Women’s Health Group and MAS Ventures.

The two-story center is being designed by local firm ZPD+A, with a large portion of the facility set to become the new home of Women’s Health Group. The group currently operates a few blocks north at 5311 South Harlem Avenue, having now served the area for over 30 years. They are committed to multi-generational women’s healthcare, obstetrics, and gynecology.

The structure itself will contain 14,200 square feet of space, with the space not occupied by the Women’s Health Group set to be leased out as additional medical space. The building will feature multiple modern systems for healthcare as well as a dedicated ambulance area. The facility will also be served by a small parking lot to the north.

The stacked box massing will be slightly softened via angled corners and walls, with a light panel exterior on the lower level contrasted by a darker top floor. The team has secured full building permits for the project and can now move forward. Summit Development Group will serve as the general contractor, with an opening set for Spring 2027.
