Work has wrapped up and leasing has begun for the second residential phase of the greater Ogden Commons development in North Lawndale. Located at 1312 South Talman Avenue, the project builds upon ongoing efforts to redevelop the former site of the CHA Ogden Courts complex, joining an already completed medical and commercial structure along Ogden Avenue.

Dubbed The Junction at OC Living, the four-story building was developed through a collaboration between local developers Habitat and Sinai Chicago, with SCB leading the design. The L-shaped structure is anchored by a large parking lot with 56 spaces and is surrounded by new walking paths and an outdoor play area that connects to the previous residential phase next door.

Inside The Junction are 75 residential units, consisting of studios and one-, two-, and three-bedroom layouts, all featuring open floor plans and energy-efficient kitchens. Of the total units, 57 (76 percent) are designated as affordable, including 30 apartments reserved as CHA units. The remaining units are available at market rate.

Residents have access to a fitness center, lounge space, and shared laundry rooms within the multi-toned brick and metal panel-clad structure. The $38 million development had been in the works for several years and was fully approved and funded just over a year ago through a mix of TIF funding, loans, and Low-Income Housing Tax Credits.
A future third phase is also in the works and will include townhomes and multi-flat buildings.
