A tower crane permit was issued for the residential building at 566 West Van Buren Street in the West Loop on March 12. Of course, construction can’t begin with just the permission for a crane. But not to worry. Last week, both the foundation/superstructure permit and the full building permit came through the data portal, allowing work to begin on the project from Riverside Investment & Development.
The foundation/superstructure permit was first, coming through on March 23 with a reported cost of $12 million. Curiously, the permit in the portal is the one that disappeared from the site, the one showing an application date of July 27, 2022. It came off the portal after 36 months. The permit that has now been issued still shows 566 West Van Buren is its original iteration, a 14-story apartment building. With the issuance of the full building permit on March 25, we can see the updated details of a 12-story, 199-unit development. The full building permit shows a reported cost of $44 million.

Antunovich Associates is the architect of the project, with Clark Construction serving as the general contractor and Adjustable Concrete as the concrete contractor. Work is expected to begin in mid-April. In addition to its 199 dwelling units, the building will include 42 parking spaces in a ground-floor garage, plus 199 bicycle spaces.

Nice project, more like this please!
Top 5 favorite project in the City right now. It fits in so well and brings 300-400 people to what is now a parking lot. Ten of these do so much more for the City than a supertall. My favorite still being 400 Lake Shore. It would be nice to get a few of these around River North.
Agreed, so much better than any of the buildings with parking podiums. The difference is profound.
