Heavy steel beams for the framework of a residential building have been put in place at 750 West North Avenue in Lincoln Park. The ironwork has been tied into the curved wall for the east facade of the building, and concrete block is underway to start giving form to the structure. Additional masonry work is on view at the west side of the construction site, with brickwork outlining the first floor.

Base 3 is the developer and general contractor here, working with designs by Red Architects. The five-story, 48-unit project was permitted for construction in September, and excavation kicked off in November. Plans for the building call for a shared rooftop deck atop the fifth floor, with a 15-space parking garage and one retail space of approximately 2,300 square feet fronting North Avenue at street level. There will also be storage for 50 bicycles.

Base 3 has announced their intentions to have units available come spring of next year. 750 West North has its own website, but as yet, no rates are shown for the units, though there is a portal for receiving updates.

  1. I spent my entire life going past this curve in the tracks dreaming of something being built here, & it feels surreal that it is finally happening.

    • I agree, kind of still bummed that the 2018 proposal that was 8 stories tall didn’t move forward, but just happy that something is being built at this point.

  2. Awesome. Now we just need to cover the parking lot across the street at 711 W North with housing too.

  3. I would say I’m gonna miss the shortcut of going through the parking lot to get north onto Halsted but I couldn’t be happier this is going up. It matches the historical building next door nicely.

@Eric, one can dream! I saw a headline about a parking lot in Jersey City selling for 10x its assessed value….
The big residential building around 650 w north seems to be doing well. It replaced a strip mall with too much parking about 8 years ago. I’d love for the CB2 strip mall to be replaced as well.
