A pair of single-family residences were permitted for construction by the City of Chicago to replace a commercial greenhouse site slated for demolition in April. Developer and general contractor A & SL Construction of Palos Hills applied for permits on July 2, and they came through for 5326 and 5328 South Mason Avenue in Garfield Ridge on August 13, each with a reported cost of $300,000.

Peter Sterniuk is named as the architect of record. The homes will be two-story structures with basements, with detached two-car garages built on the alley at the rear of the properties. Identical permits are pending in the Chicago Data Portal for two more homes located at 5330 and 5332 South Mason.
The development site previously held a commercial building and attached greenhouse, both of which were permitted for demolition on April 4 of this year.

Residents of 5326-5332 South Mason will live within a block’s walk of CTA service via Route 52 and 52H buses along Archer Avenue. Route 55A and 55N buses make stops about two blocks south at 55th Street. Those buses can be taken east to Midway Airport for connecting to the Orange Line train.
