The homes fill in a lot left vacant by a May 2011 demolition permit that allowed for the removal of a single-story dwelling on the site. The adjacent lot to the north at 2741 West Monroe is improved by a three-story multi-unit residence permitted for construction in November 2011. There are several other vacant lots on the south side of the 2700 block, but no other permits are pending in the Chicago Data Portal.
