A two-story, three-unit residential building was permitted for construction by the City of Chicago on April 25 for 6302 South Champlain Avenue in Woodlawn. Greenline Homes, LLC is the recipient of the permit, having filed an application to build on March 10. The permit shows them acting as their own general contractor, with a reported construction cost of $1.076 million.
The new building is a design by Hanna Architects. The first floor will contain one parking spot and an undisclosed amount of retail space. There will also be one surface parking stall outside. A masonry trash enclosure is the only other detail mentioned.

The new development fills some of an empty lot left vacant since the demolition of a two-story brick building at 621 East 63rd Street in 2011. This project won’t fill the entire lot, and there are no pending permits in the Chicago Data Portal for other properties here. The corner lot at Champlain and 63rd Street is situated alongside the Green Line elevated tracks. Greenline Homes has been busy on this block of South Champlain, having received permits to build at 6319, 6320, and 6332 back in 2022.
