A permit has been issued by the City of Chicago to begin construction of a five-story, 12-unit building at 515 West Elm Street in the Cabrini-Green neighborhood on the Near North Side. Cabrini LLC of Northwoods, IL is named as the developer. They filed an application for the permit on January 20 of this year, and it comes with a reported cost of just over $4 million.

A pending permit in the Chicago Data Portal would allow the church to be converted into seven residential units. That permit names DemoX as the developer and general contractor. It calls for a rooftop deck connected by stair enclosures, and a four-car garage located on the ground floor. No timeline for the beginning of conversion work and its completion are known at the moment.

Cabrini LLC is also working on renovation of Wayman African Methodist Episcopal Church next door at 509 West Elm. The same team, with Hanna Architects on on design and Cabrini Development, Inc as the general contractor, are working together on both projects. For 515 West Elm, the permit calls for nine parking spaces on the first floor, balconies on all four upper levels, and a deck, elevator overrun, and stair enclosure on the roof.
