Construction work is drawing to a close, as the residential development at 5753 North Broadway in Edgewater edges closer to its June opening. Now known as Edgelux, the five-story, 42-unit development being built by Moments Notice Services is getting attention to its interior details, with the first residents expected to begin moving into their units two months from now.

Designed by Hanna Architects, the development will feature 21 parking stalls and retail space on the ground floor. Apartments on levels two through five will include one-bedroom and two-bedroom floor plans, many with private balconies. Additional outdoor space will be available on a rooftop deck offering grilling stations and lounge seating. Other residential amenities include a fitness center, bicycle storage, a co-working lounge, and a pet spa.

Edgelux was permitted by the city on August 7, 2023 after an application filing dated December 29, 2022. The reported cost for that permit was $8.1 million. A permit for a residential elevator was issued on August 28 of last year. Rental information can be found at the Edgelux website here.

Residents of Edgelux will find bus service for CTA Routes 36 and 84 right outside their door. Two Red Line platforms, one at Bryn Mawr and one at Thorndale, are located within roughly a quarter-mile walk to the south and to the north, respectively.

For Hanna, this actually looks half decent. The big windows with the pane lines are a nod to the Prairie Style, and the recessed balconies don’t look too dark. Credit where credit is due.
