Work on the glass exterior for 919 Fulton in the West Loop is nearly complete. Only a few panes need to be installed where the construction hoist was recently removed from the north end of the structure.

Fulton Street Companies plans to have 919 open this year, so getting the exterior buttoned up will allow work on the interiors to move full steam ahead. That includes the build-out for a Gibson’s restaurant and an Equinox fitness club as part of the 20,000+ square feet of commercial space in the 11-story office building. There will also be 80 parking spaces located below grade.

919 Fulton’s location in the heart of the Fulton Market District puts it in the midst of several transit options for commuting to and from work and recreation. The Morgan Green Line elevated platform entrance is less than a block away, with the east end of the platform right outside the building’s south-facing windows. Bus service via Route 8 is available two blocks east at Halsted Street, and four blocks south at Madison Street and its Route 20 stops.

Metra trains are available about three-quarters of a mile east at Ogilvie Transportation Center, where commuters can come and go using the UP-N, UP-W, and UP-NW lines. Another quarter-mile south of Ogilvie lies Chicago Union Station, where six different Metra trains and Amtrak trains are available.

  1. How adorable

  2. Wasn’t Equinox suppost to be in a 46 story high rise abutting the Kennedy ?

  3. Below grade parking: yes, it can be done.

    • Indeed, they result in *much* nicer buildings all around that are just better in every way. And it encourages a reduction in the amount of parking too, also a plus.

  4. Ugly eye sore
