Plans have been revealed for the residential conversion of the top floor of the building at 2156 N Clybourn Avenue in Lincoln Park. Sitting on the corner with N Southport Avenue, the wedge-shaped building currently contains vacant office space on the second floor and multiple retail spots on the ground level.

The project sits on the northern end of the currently stalled Lincoln Yards megadevelopment site, but will try to capture some of the ongoing growth in the area. The work is being led by developer KJOS Properties LLC, with local architecture firm Chadha + Associates working on the design.

The project will begin with the repair and repainting of all of the building’s exterior elevations as well as new lighting. The top floor itself will be converted into nine residential units made up of four one-bedrooms and five two-bedroom layouts ranging from 810 to 1,360 square feet in size. The units will all share a single central laundry room as well.

New skylights will also be added to the building along the central corridor and internal bedrooms as required, residents will also have access to a small bike parking room. The project was introduced to this month’s Plan Commission but will be reviewed at a later time, currently no budget or construction timeline is known.
