2841 North Southport Avenue in Lake View has risen to its second story, and will add two more levels before it reaches its ultimate height. The three-unit development from Bachula Development, who are taking on general contractor duties as well, replaces a multi-unit frame residential building demolished in July.
The new construction permit, issued April 9 of this year, calls for rear decks and a connecting stairway on the first three levels, plus a private roof deck for the fourth floor. A detached three-car garage at the rear of the property will also include a rooftop deck. 360 Design Studio is the architect of the four-story building, which will also include a basement level.
Residents of 2841 North Southport Avenue will live within a two-block walk of CTA bus service via Route 76 to the south, and Routes 9 and X9 to the west. The nearest elevated train is the Diversey Brown/Purple Line platform just over half a mile to the east.
