Foundation work has begun for a new residential building at 3015 North Southport Avenue in Lake View. Taking over a surface parking lot, the new development will consist of seven dwelling units in a five-story structure. A new construction permit was issued for the property on September 6 of this year, showing Chicago’s Advent Properties as the developer. The permit was issued after amendments were approved to increase parking and decrease setbacks.
Designed by Hanna Architects, the building will include a seven-vehicle garage (only four spaces would have included without the amendment being granted) on the ground floor. Balconies will adorn the upper four floors at the front of the building, along Southport, with rear decks on the second and third levels. An alley runs along the south edge of the property, and an access driveway for the property at 3021 North Southport next door runs behind the lot. The permit lists Archway Builders of Northbrook, Illinois as the general contractor.
Upon completion, residents of 3015 North Southport Avenue will live two blocks east of CTA bus service via Route 9 at Ashland Avenue. A slightly longer walk north leads to east-west service via Route 77 on Belmont Avenue. The nearest elevated train is the Wellington Brown Line platform, about five blocks to the east.
