The City of Chicago has issued a permit for the construction of a new 2-story, 2-dwelling unit residential building at 6826 South Langley Avenue in Woodlawn. The permit, which was applied for on July 23 and issued on September 17, allows for the construction of the building under the 2019 Chicago Building Code.
The new building will feature 2 dwelling units, including a Type “A” handicap-accessible unit. The plans also include a rear deck at the first story and a detached 2-car garage.
The permit fees for the project total $5,289, which includes $2,850 in building fees, $1,500 in zoning fees, and $939 in other fees. The reported cost of the project is $442,470.
The self-certified architect for the project is John Hanna. When complete, the property will be a short walk from CTA Stations servicing the Green Line.

  1. I’d be curious about some of the development statistics in Woodlawn. For example, how many vacant lots were there 10 years ago and how many are there now (naturally leading to the percent of formerly vacant lots with new construction)? Things like this.
