A new residential development is underway at 539 East 47th Street in Bronzeville. The project, which is being spearheaded by Bronzeville Corridor LLC, will involve the construction of a four-story mixed-use building that offers both residential and commercial spaces, along with a private garage. The project has a budget of $2.7 million.

The project, when complete, will feature six residential units along with ground-floor retail space. Notably, it will include an elevator, with installation approvals being handled separately through the elevator bureau. Architect Christopher Michalek, based in Chicago, has brought his expertise to the project’s designs. General contractor G Corp from Chicago is overseeing the construction, working closely with masonry contractors D.C.A. Quality Construction Co and T & D Builders, Inc.

539 E 47th Street will be located steps from bus service for Routes 3 and 47. Beyond that, the property will be a short walk to the east from the 47th Street CTA Station, which services the Green Line.

  1. I’m very happy about all of this new development coming to the south side. I know there’s a lot of consternation about the “number of cranes”, but I think all of the investment coming to historically disinvested parts of the City is the real story. I’m perfectly happy to see so many new two- and three-flats, along with these smaller mixed-use developments in exchange for a few supertalls downtown.

  2. A Senior unit?

  3. Will this project be rentals, condos, apartments?? If so what would be the cost for each?
