The City of Chicago has issued permits for a renovation project at 3138 West Arthington Street in Lawndale. The project, which has a budget of $80,000, aims to address several building code violations in the existing two-story, two-unit building.

Plans for the project outline a complete overhaul of the building’s interior and exterior components. One of the main goals for the project is to remove existing drywall and replace it with new drywall over the current wood stud walls. Beyond that, the project plans to repair of existing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems for the building. Finally, the project plans to replace the existing wood two-story porch in the rear of the building.

The property is owned by Harris Gushon from Chicago. The architectural planning and design are being led by Howard Garrison. Brand Design & Remodeling Corp will serve as the general contractor for the project. Paramount Construction Group is handling the masonry work.

3138 W Arthington Street is steps from bus stops for Route 52. Stops for the 82 bus line are a slightly farther seven-minute walk to the west of the property. Beyond that, the Kedzie-Homan CTA station, which services the Blue Line, is an eight-minute walk to the north of the property.
