The City of Chicago has issued permits for a new four-story mixed-use building at 2923 North Southport Avenue in Lake View. Permits were issued on January 17, and the project’s budget is approximately $950,000.

Designed by architect Samuel Pavlovicik, the building will feature a combination of commercial space on the ground floor and three residential units on the upper floors. Each residential unit will offer front and rear balconies. In addition, the building will feature an attached garage with a partial roof deck. McKinney Group LLC has been assigned as the general contractor for the project.

When complete, 2923 North Southport Avenue will be located steps from bus service for Route 76, with stops for Route 9via a seven-minute walk to the west of the property. Beyond that, the Diversey CTA station, which services the Brown and Purple Lines, will be 13-minute walk to the east of the property.

  1. Not mentioned was that this is a 5-minute walk away from Golden Apple Diner–possibly the best in the city. Not to be confused with Golden Nugget Pancakes, Golden House, or Golden Corral. This is a stand-alone location.

  2. Don’t trust McKinney Group LLC. The quality of construction is very poor, masonry is awful and ppst sale the HOA will be left with $500,000 worth of repairs at least! They don’t honor the 1 year warranty and do bandaid fixes. Truly terrible!
