Construction of the new Leadership and Opportunity Center at 6623 S Dr Martin Luther King Jr Drive in the West Woodlawn neighborhood has advanced beyond ground level. The project, previously the site of a vacant lot and more recently a pop-up plaza, is led by Pastor Corey Brooks of Project H.O.O.D. (Helping Others Obtain Destiny) and Trammell Crow Company.

The second floor will feature a sports area with two basketball courts and bleachers, alongside a music practice room, video production studio, performance center, art studio, and dance studio. The third floor will house a multi-use community room, additional fitness space, and a rooftop garden. With BNMO Design as the architect, the building will feature gray metal panels and a distinctive curtain wall with colorful vertical paneling.
